Tomorrow in USA will be completed the three-day conference Of designCon 2007, one of participants in which it became the company rambus. In the exposure of the well-known developer of the architectural solutions for the subsystems memory it is possible to see recent achievements and new, promising projects. In particular, is shown the architecture of memory XDR and its recent realization in the gaming console playStation 3. In the exposure Of rambus they entered:
- Architecture of memory XDR, which ensures the transfer of given at the frequencies 3,2-8,0 GHz. As the example to realization is demonstrated the transfer of given with a speed of 3,2 Gbit/s with the use of technology FlexPhase and operations of the reading- record by octets (Octal data rate, ODR). Let us recall, the chips of memory XDR DRAM with a volume of 512 Mbit with a clock frequency of 4 GHz already released by the company elpida, and at the beginning of the present year license agreement about the use of interface memory XDR was signed with company qimonda.
- The processor system bus flexIO, in the opinion of company, is the most rapid in the branch, is supporting frequencies from 400 MHz to 8,0 GHz.
- Technology DDR, which carries out bilateral transactions with memory DDR2, which works at the speed of 800 Mbit/s (the clock frequency – 400 MHz);
- Solution rambus gen2, compatible with the base specification PCI express 0.5, and which ensures the speed transmission to 5 Gbit/s. The first demonstration model of this solution, in which was integrated digital controller and the interface of physical level (PHY), company showed last fall.
Furthermore, Rambus demonstrates firmware means for the developers LabStation.
